NCCWSL Leadership Conference

The National Conference for College Women Student Leaders (NCCWSL), sponsored by the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education (NASPA), is the only conference that brings together college women to address important and contemporary leadership issues and also promotes career development, job search readiness, and success in the workplace. NCCWSL is where college women make their future what they want.

As America’s premier conference for college women, the conference provides a transformative experience for attendees and prepares them to be the next generation of leaders. Each attendee becomes a part of the 29-year legacy of the conference.

Each year the Women’s Resource Center, supported by many campus departments, coordinates sending Michigan women to this conference. In 2013, UM-Dearborn sent 27 of our students accompanied by 23 students from other Michigan colleges and universities. Travel to the Washington DC area is via charter bus.  In addition to being supported by their schools, students are  sponsored by their local American Association of University Women branch. NCCWSL 2014 will be June 5-7, 2014 at the University of Maryland, College Park.  Registration is now open.

NCCWSL offers opportunities to attend workshops that aid women in preparation for life after college; meet and network with amazing women of distinction; attend a graduate school fair; and gain the skills and confidence necessary to return to the community ready for action!

2012 Attendee:  Before attending NCCWSL and listening to Lilly Ledbetter speak about pay equity, I was unaware of the pay equity gap that exists between men and women.  The conference presented opportunities through workshops to aid women in advocating for themselves, leading to better pay at the outset of a new position.

2013 Attendee:  The NCCWSL seminars, graduate schools recruitment and opportunities to fellowship exclusively for women were amazing, far beyond anything I could have envisioned.  Being in the presence of so many amazing women excited about the future and armed with the knowledge obtained from the NCCWSL conference inspired me to return home ready to change things.
