UM-Dearborn campus will host town-hall on "American
Power and Global Security" on Oct. 14
DEARBORN---The University of Michigan-Dearborn campus is one of 25 venues across the country to host a town-hall meeting to discuss America's role in the world this fall.
The UM-Dearborn session will be held at 7 p.m. in the campus's University
Center on Oct. 14
The discussion is sponsored by a broad non-partisan coalition to increase
public involvement in discussion of critical global issues. The coalition,
called "The People Speak,"
includes the United Nations Foundation,
the American Enterprise Institute, the
Brookings Institution, the League
of Women Voters, Rock
the Vote and more than a dozen other groups.
The UM-Dearborn discussion, focusing on "American Power and Global
Security," also will include scholars and journalists in a panel
discussion. In addition to UM-Dearborn students, the audience will include
guests from other schools in the region as well as members of the community.
Topics that are likely to be covered during the discussion include foreign
perceptions of the United States, America's diplomatic priorities, and
the global struggle with terrorism.
Local sponsorship is provided by the Arab
Community Center for Economic and Social Services, the Ford
Motor Company and the Forum for Innovative Leadership, a consortium
of the Detroit
Regional Chamber, The Henry Ford
and The University of Michigan-Dearborn.
