Campus will show 'The Rosa Parks Story' on Nov. 2

DEARBORN---The University of Michigan-Dearborn's African and African American Studies Program, in collaboration with the University Center Administration Office, will show the film "The Rosa Parks Story" on Wednesday, Nov. 2.

The 2002 made-for-television film, starring Oscar nominee Angela Bassett and directed by Julie Dash, will run continuously from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in Room 1225 of the campus's University Center. The showings, which are free and open to the public, will begin approximately every two hours.

"Please stop by to reflect on the real day-to-day discrimination that Mrs. Parks and millions of unnamed others faced, defied and ultimately overcame through acts of bravery, such as refusing to give up a bus seat," said humanities Prof. Deborah Smith Pollard, director of the African and African American Studies Program.
