Accreditation commission seeks comments on the University
DEARBORN---The University of Michigan-Dearborn will be evaluated by a team representing the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools Sept. 29-Oct. 1.
UM-Dearborn has been accredited by the commission since 1973, and received a 10-year renewal of its accreditation in 1993.
The Higher Learning Commission is one of six accrediting agencies in the United States recognized by the U.S. Department of Education that provide institutional accreditation on a regional basis.
To prepare for the visit, a committee of UM-Dearborn faculty and staff members has been engaged in a review of the campus's mission, resources, structure and plans for the future.
As part of the accreditation process, the campus is required to solicit
comments from its constituencies, including the general public, about
the quality of the institution and its academic programs. Members of the
public who want to comment on any aspect of UM-Dearborn's role in the
