Black History Month with a poetry exchange called "Over the Counter,
Under the Skin" beginning at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22 in Room
1030 of the College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters Building on
the campus of the University of Michigan-Dearborn. The event, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by UM-Dearborn's
African and African American
Studies Program and the Center
for Arab American Studies, and co-sponsored by the Association of
African American Students. The program is supported by a Diversity Challenge
Grant from UM-Dearborn's Office of the Provost. The artists scheduled to appear include Alise Alousi, the De-Cipher Collective,
Vievee Francis, Kim Hunter, Marilynn Rashid, Kevin Rashid and 3rd Eye
Open featuring Omari King Wise. The program will begin with a reception at 6 p.m., followed by poetry
readings at 6:45 p.m. and discussion with artists at 8:15 p.m. For more information, contact UM-Dearborn's African and African American
