New UM-Dearborn program will help citizens learn
how to run for office, manage campaigns, or serve in local government
"We're looking for people who are willing to
take on the responsibility of serving in local elected offices,
and helping them think through the process of organizing a campaign
and getting elected," is how Edward Bagale, vice chancellor
for government relations at the University of Michigan-Dearborn,
describes a new program being launched at the campus this spring.

open house
The University of Michigan-Dearborn's Early Learning
and Child Development Center will host an open house from 4 p.m.
to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22 in Room 104 of the Academic Support

UM-Dearborn agreement with American Correctional
Association will help prepare students for careers in law enforcement
An agreement between the University of Michigan-Dearborn
and the American Correctional Association will allow students who
complete the university's bachelor's degree program in criminal
justice to become certified for many law enforcement careers at

Author and scholar Kevin Boyle to lecture on
Detroit history at UM-Dearborn on March 8
Kevin Boyle, who won the 2004 National Book Award
for Arc of Justice: A Saga of Race, Civil Rights, and Murder
in the Jazz Age, will give a free, public lecture at 7 p.m.
Tuesday, March 8, in Room 1030, College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters

Disadvantaged women to learn about college at
UM-Dearborn's 'Women on the Move'
"Women on the Move-College is an Option!"
a free program that introduces the University of Michigan-Dearborn
to socially and economically disadvantaged women receiving services
through area non-profit agencies, will be held from 8 a.m. to 3:30
p.m. on Thursday, March 17, and then again on Thursday, May 12 to
accommodate the growing number of participants, who come from domestic
violence shelters, social service agency referrals, and community
