Chickadee populations show long-term decline,
according to UM-Dearborn ornithologist
If you've noticed a decline in the number of black-capped
chickadees visiting your backyard feeder, you're not the only one.
"Beginning last winter, many people commented on the sharp
decline of black-capped chickadees at their feeders," according
to Julie Craves, research associate at the University of Michigan-Dearborn's
Environmental Interpretive Center and lead researcher in the campus's
Rouge River Bird Observatory. Full

Geosciences Institute links campus with high
school teachers in area
More than 20 local high school teachers and
students will get the chance to work on research projects with faculty
at the University of Michigan-Dearborn this summer as part of the
Department of Natural Science's inaugural Geosciences Institute
for Education and Research to be held July 12-30 at the campus's
