African American Studies Program, in conjunction with Detroit Public
Television, will host an advance screening and panel discussion
for the series "Matters of Race" from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday, September 17 in Room 1030 of the campus's College of

Girl Scouts will get a look at college-level
science at UM-Dearborn Aug. 14-15
Detroit-area Cadette Girl Scouts will get to explore
careers in science this week in a campus program coordinated by
biology Profs. Marilee Parsons and Judith Heady. The program, which
runs August 14-15, is called "Lab Coats and Microscopes."

Michael J. Schneider named professor emeritus
at UM-Dearborn
Michael J. Schneider, who joined the University of
Michigan-Dearborn faculty in 1973, was appointed professor emeritus
of biology by the U-M Regents at their July meeting. He retired
from active faculty status at the end of June. Full
