DEARBORN---University of Michigan-Dearborn School of Management faculty members will be participating in Money Smart Week, an inaugural series of seminars devoted to combat financial illiteracy and provide greater education to consumers in southeast Michigan.

Money Smart Week will take place April 26-30 and many of the sessions, which are free and open to the public, will be held at the Fairlane Center.

The Detroit branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, along with 26 local organizations, joined together to create Money Smart Week, according to Prof. Michael Foran, chair of the Department of Accounting and Finance and Money Smart project director.

John Kaplan, executive-in-residence in the School of Management, will kick off the week-long series on April 26 with a presentation on "Family Budgeting: How to Live Within Your Income" from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in Room 148, Fairlane Center.
