MINUTES

MEMBERS PRESENT: Bill Romej, Paul Beteag, Vera Kapulak, Laura Drabczyk, Marlene Pruitt, Cindy Kecskes, Diane Leach, Betty Greco, Diane Sigler, Michelle Barnes, Shelly Harris, Linda Southward, Judy Walker and Judy Wilson

MEMBERS ABSENT: Bob Crocker, Amy Kazanowski, Sandy Kulka, Lori Kornelson and Sharon Bingley

1. CALL TO ORDER

2. Elections: Diane Sigler announced that she will be allowed to serve as Vice-chair by her department. Vote: Unanimous

Senate Council: Chair – Bill Romej – EMSL

Vice-chair – Diane Sigler – CA

Secretary – Judy Wilson – CA

Laura Drabczyk proposed from Business Affairs – No other nominations so Laura will serve on Council.

Marlene Pruitt, Betty Greco and Diane Leach proposed to serve for Colleges.

Marlene Pruitt won the vote.

Betty Greco and Judy Walker proposed for At-Large seat. Betty Greco won the vote.

Judy Wilson proposed that the Council have seven members, Senate agreed that Judy Walker would also serve on the Council.

4. Budget Request – There was extensive discussion about the budget proposal and whether or not supporting information for the longevity portion was needed. It was noted by Judy Wilson that supporting figures had already been prepared last year by Leah Long using the example from the trades union contract. A motion was made by Cindy Kecskes and seconded by Betty Greco to approve the budget request with the proposed amendments. Vote: Unanimous. It was suggested that copies of the proposal be given to the Senior Officers and the University Budget committee. The chair will make the necessary amendments and send copies to all concerned by Monday, January 30, 2006.

5. Staff Appreciation Picnic: Judy Walker noted that the Chancellor is available for the Staff Appreciation Picnic and Awards ceremony on August 16, 2006 and asked the Senate to approve that date. Vote: unanimous Judy Walker also noted that the Recognition Ceremony will be take place 11-11:30 and the Staff Senate Picnic from run 11:30-1:30 P.M
