Catering Service Policies
Alcoholic Beverage Service Policy
Number of Guests - Upon your initial contact with Classic Fare Catering, we ask for an approximate number of guests you expect to attend your event. A guaranteed number and serving time must be submitted to the University Center Office three business days prior to the event.
Linen Service - Linen service will be provided at no additional cost to all dining and food service tables for events that serving a full meal to their guests. Reception and meeting services are priced to include linen on food service tables only. Linens not included with the meal service can be rented for $2.75 per linen. All cloth napkins come in standard white linen. When specifying colored cloth napkins, please add $.50 per napkin. Specialty linen may be added to your event for an additional fee, please contact the University Center reservation office at 313-583-6623 for more details.
China - All menu items are priced to be served on disposable service ware. China may be ordered for an additional $1.75 per person for events held in the University Center. China service may be ordered for events outside of the University Center for an additional $2.25 per person. An 18% service fee will be charged for all events requiring china service.
Delivery - All deliveries outside the University Center will incur a $15.00 delivery charge.
Cake Fee - A 25¢ per person cake fee applies to all cakes brought into an event.
Late Fee - Any meal event delayed more than 30 minutes will be subject to a labor surcharge. This surcharge will be assessed by the University Center Administration then added to your final bill.
Health and Liquor Control Laws - Due to Federal, State, Health and Michigan Liquor Control Laws, U of M Dearborn does not allow any food or beverage to be brought in by guests. All food and beverages must be purchased through the University Center, with the exception of wedding cakes.
Meal Service - Groups of twenty-five or less will pay for the full guaranteed count.
Menu Selections - Meals including more than one entrée will be subject to the following restrictions and policies:
- $1.00 per person split surcharge applies to all functions with a split menu (up to three entrée choices for parties under 50 people).
- The patron will be responsible for providing menu cards or name tags for each guest specifying their meal selection.
- Any last minute meal changes, if available, will be charged at full price in addition to the guaranteed selections on the order form.
Late Order Availability - In order to ensure the quality of your event, we request sufficient time in order to procure food and personnel. Sufficient notification is defined as 3 business days for meals and 2 business days for refreshments. Events booked without sufficient notification will be subject to limited menu and service availability as well as a 20% service added to the total charges of the invoice.
Cancellations - The Classic Fare Catering Reservation Office must be notified of cancellations twenty-four hours in advance. Organizations and departments will be held responsible for any charges incurred due to noncompliance of this policy.
Ice Sculptures - May be added to any reception for $225.00 (2 weeks notice required.)
