Alcoholic Beverage Service Policy

1. The University Center is subject to all rules and regulations of the State of Michigan. No alcohol, other than that provided by licensed, trained ARAMARK service staff may be served or consumed at the University Center. In addition no alcoholic beverages may be removed from the event room or building.
2. When final beverage arrangements are made, the University Center Administration will notify the host of any special conditions deemed necessary for safe alcohol service. Any additional expenses incurred will be the responsibility of the hosting organization.
3. Service time of alcoholic beverages must be established at the time of the menu selection.
4. Service of alcoholic beverages may not exceed 4 ½ hours
5. Service of alcoholic beverages must conclude 30 minutes before the end of the event or 12:30 a.m., whichever occurs first
6. No event at which the majority of the participants will be under age may include alcoholic beverages.
7. At all social events when alcohol is to be present, food of a substantial nature must be provided for the guests by the host organization.

   a.) For receptions, food of a substantial nature is equivalent to a minimum of three hors d’oeurve portions per person attending the event for each hour of bar service.

   b.) For events with both a reception and full meal service, alcohol service will be as follows 4 hours of bar service and up to 2 hours of wine service with meal (bar will be closed for at least 1 hour during the meal service time).

8. Bar service may begin no earlier than one hour prior to the start of food service for the event and must end no later then 12:30 a.m.
9. Alcohol service will be conducted by ARAMARK waitstaff that are trained in and observe the Training for Intervention Procedures program. Service will be conducted in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws, Liquor Control Commission rules and policies of the University of Michigan – Dearborn.
