Sustainablity Week 2012
October 25th 2012 marked the seventh annual Campus Sustainability Day. UM-Dearborn celebrated with two days of events. Food Day was centered around sustainable food systems for all and UM-Deaborn celebrated the new food pantry that recently opened to provide immediate assistance to UM-D students and families that are in need. There was also a screening of the film "Grown in Detroit", which highlights the urban farming movement in Detroit. Karen Holland presented a session on "Extreme Couponing" which was followed by "The role of economics in shaping food availability and nutrition." Thursday's events were sponsored by UM-Dearborn's Planet Blue team in conjunction with Toastmasters. Together they created a fun and informative Planet Blue Jeopardy game and gave audience members an opportunity to talk about the triple bottom line of sustainability; People, Planet and Profit. Students were excited, responsive, energetic and won great prizes!
