| The University of
Michigan-Dearborn Players’ Club Improv Company A Players' Club Fundraiser The Improv troupe started out as a workshop to introduce the
Players to improvisational comendy and to hone their acting
skills. Being able to think quickly is an asset to any
actor. One of our Vagina Monologue Alumni from last year, Kelly
Congdon, heard that we were interested in having a workshop and offered
herself as a workshop leader. She studied for three years at
Detroit's Second City. Another player experienced
in improv, Andrea Hoglen, offered to assist and lead
some workshops as well. Our work was going so well and
we had so much fun that we decided to do a fundraising show.
Improv doesn't cost much to put on, so it seemed the perfect way to
raise money for our other shows. Our first show was October 9th,
2004 and raised money both for the Players and for Operation Iraqi
Children. We enjoyed it so much that we decided to create a
comedy troupe and periodically put on fundraisers for the PC.
Our second Improv Fundraiser, on
Thursday, January 27th, will raise money for our Winter shows
and for Tsunami victims.
