Lots of news for this update! The University of Michigan Paintball Team just got back from Midwest North #2 where we took 1st and 14th place (out of 26 total teams). This is a great milestone for the team as not only does this mark the first Gold Medal finish, but also a flawless semmester of placing in each event attended (3rd, 4th, and 1st respectively). A big thanks goes out to our staff and players - without all your hardwork none of this would've been possible!
After our run of placing in all of our fall 2008 tournies we are currently in 6th out of 76 colleges nationwide.
Because
we are a recognized student organization, our constitution ensures that
"membership into the University of Michigan Paintball Club shall
be open to all students, faculty and alumni who may wish to join, regardless
of age, sexual orientation, race, religion or creed. The University of
Michigan Paintball Club will strive at all times to be a club of equal
opportunity that all can enjoy and benefit from".
A
little about what we have to offer as a club at U of M:
> Sponsorships from a few of the top industries in paintball including
Smart Parts, Topstitch, Allen Paintball Products, and National Paintball
Supply. In addition, we also get field time at Atomix Paintball, the best
field in Southeastern Michigan if not North America.
> A laid back student organization that is not too hung up on itself
and very fun to be a part of. Some have referred to us as "The Anti-Student
Organization Organization" because we don't frame ourselves with
such political chains like "rushing" or pledging. Don't let
the fact that we are also a competitive team fool you; we are also against
"hazing". We do however seek those that can handle competitive
situations while balancing the concept of being a team player. Past tourney
experience is a HUGE plus but all levels of experience are welcome.
We participate in a team sport which means you will be grouped with a
line that should become your best buds. Understand that you will need
to count on one another on the field so it's best to also do things off
the field. Basically...PARTY TOGETHER!!!!
In return for all of this, the club has a membership fee of $20 per semester
to help with expenses.
