is Lyceum?
Lyceum is one of the major organizations on campus which
publishes the Lyceum, the universityís fine arts and literary
journal, as well as bringing in visiting writers and hosting open
microphone poetry nights.
What
is published in the Lyceum?
Lyceum publishes artwork such as paintings, photographs,
sketches, watercolors, and graphic art as well as poetry and prose
submitted by students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
Does
Lyceum publish every submission they get?
No way! Lyceum receives about one hundred submissions a
semester and the Lyceum staff and editors rate the pieces anonymously
to decide which submissions reflect the finest work by students
on campus.
How
often is the Lyceum published?
Twice, once during the fall semester and once during the winter semester.
Copies are free for everyone and available all over campus.
How
does one become a staff member of Lyceum?
Easy, either drop by our office at 2115 UC, give us a call (1-313-593-5489)
or e-mail the editor at The Editor. You donít need to be an English
major or have had prior experience with literary publications. We just ask that you be well-read and an avid
lover of poetry and fiction.
How
do I submit something to Lyceum?
Deadlines for submission are usually in the middle of October
and the middle of February. Just grab a submission form off our office door
and turn it in to us with your typed submission.
What
kind of writers does Lyceum bring to campus?
Lyceum brings slam poets and contemporary poets as well
as local and national fiction writers to campus to read and sign
