You are the Heart of the Michigan Difference

Dear Colleagues,

The University of Michigan-Dearborn is changing dramatically!  Many alumni who return to visit are astonished at the changes over the years, such as the new and renovated buildings and the expanded academic programs.  With the support of many donors, including gifts from faculty and staff, there are new scholarships, new buildings and equipment, new educational opportunities for students, new materials for the library and new technology.
Since the beginning of the Michigan Difference campaign in 2000, the amount that faculty and staff have contributed is over $1.5 million!  This total has come from all sizes of gifts – and each amount is important because it shows that many have responded to the needs and have given according to their abilities.
As co-chairs of this year’s Staff and Faculty Campaign, we are asking all members of this campus community to consider how they can be a part of the Michigan Difference.  Please consider renewing your annual gift through payroll deduction or making a first-time gift or pledge to one of the many needs on the campus.  We are sure you can look around at any of the academic units and programs for proof of what a difference philanthropic support has made in increasing the standard of excellence at UM-Dearborn.
What programs do you care about?  In what area would you like to make a difference?  We are asking that each person consider a payroll deduction, pledge or check.
Here you can find a list of account codes, a printable form for making your gift and the honor roll of those who have already given.  If your area of interest is not listed, please let one of us know and we will have it added.
Remember that contributions to state universities qualify for a tax credit on your Michigan state tax return.  This credit is 50 percent of contributions up to $200 in gifts for single filers or $400 for joint filers.  For example, a married couple filing jointly and contributing $400 may have $200 subtracted from the state taxes they owe!
Each gift makes a difference, no matter the size.  Please join us in continually seeking to improve our campus and to help our deserving students.  If you have already given for this year, please accept our sincere thanks.

Thank you for your generous help.
