"Defend a position regarding a current science controversy"
For this component you will use the science concepts used in this class (NSCI
233) to defend a current scientific controversy (this can be an issue or example of an incorrect science).
Be sure that you define the controversy, state both sides of the
controversy, explain why your side is more valid (or why the other side is
invalid) using science concepts learned in this class. Of course you need
to clearly indicate which side you are defending.
You may use additional resources in addition to the course text, CD-ROM and
web pages. If you use resources other than those, please provide complete
citation (APA or MLA) bibliographic citation. See the UM-D library
resources web page for information about either of these bibliographic
formats. The URL is http://libraryweb.umd.umich.edu/lib/handouts/index.html
(scroll to the middle of the page, "Citing Sources").
Like other components, this one must be submitted as an html
document.
The minimum length is one page, which translates to approximately 500 words.
The document must be in 12 point font.
In addition your component will be evaluated upon the quality of writing,
whether the minimum length requirements were met, the accuracy of the science
you present as valid science, and the clarity of your discussion.
See rubric for details of how the grade
will be determined.
