"Current Event"
For this component you will use the science concepts used in this class (NSCI
232) to critique or reflection of at least one page (500 words) in length.
The event you select must be recent which, for the purposes of this course, will
be defined as anything occurring since January 1 of the current year. The
event must be directly related to the science content of NSCI 232 or to the
Michigan Science Curriculum Framework.
Your critique must include:
A brief summary of the event as reported sufficiently detailed so that the
reader has the relevant information.
A reference (news article, magazine article, web article, etc)
A statement on your perceptions of the accuracy of the science described
in the article. If you found errors, be sure to provide the correct
explanation.
You may use additional resources in addition to the course text, CD-ROM and
web pages. If you use resources other than those, please provide complete
citation (APA or MLA) bibliographic citation. See the UM-D library
resources web page for information about either of these bibliographic
formats. The URL is http://libraryweb.umd.umich.edu/lib/handouts/index.html
(scroll to the middle of the page, "Citing Sources").
The paper needs to be at least one page (500 words) in length.
Your document must be saved as an html document.
Text must be 12-point font.
Your grade will be based upon the accuracy of the science you present as
valid science, and the clarity of your discussion - see rubric
for details of how the grade will be determined.
