accurate, why you think it is a "big 3 points: one of the above list of components is missing
or 2 points: two of the above list of components is missing
or 1 point: at least one component is present but the
description is 0 point: statement is missing 2. Examples of how "big idea" is important to at least two different science disciplines (0 – 4 points) 4 points: description of how the "big
idea" is important in two 3 points: two examples of importance are cited
but one 2 points: description of how "big
idea" is important in one 1 point: one use is cited and description is incorrect
or is not 0 point: statement is missing
3. Quality of writing (0 – 4 points) 4 points: sentences are complete, grammar is
excellent, no 3 points: generally well-written but there are a
few errors in 2 points: some sentences are incomplete, some
spelling errors, 1 point: more than half of the sentences are
incomplete, 0 point: description makes no coherent sense,
multiple errors in 4. Thoughtfulness/college level (0 – 4 points) 4 points: entire SEP component shows thoughtful
consideration of 3 points: presentation at college level but it
appears that the effort 2 points: some thoughtful analysis provided but not
consistently 1 point: presentation barely at college level,
mistakes in concept 0 point: ideas, writing are not at college level,
minimal or no
5. References (0 – 2 points) 2 points: references are in correct (APA or MLA) format 1 point: most references are in correct format 0 point: no references are in correct format 6.
