  Introduction Overview Narratives Exhibits Reflection

Our folktale unit worked well for the group of students this year. Their reading levels range from second grade through upper middle school levels so the books we used had to be at least on a second grade instructional level. These were easy to find, and I was assured that students wouldn't struggle with the reading component. Writing can be a difficult task for many in the class; they found the process much easier when using the computers for any word processing. Even the students who typically have problems focusing were very focused once a computer screen was in front of them. We also addressed the needs of our actors and actresses with the filming of the trials.

I found that my goals were probably too ambitious for the amount of time we had for the unit. Students lacked adequate keyboarding skills, computer lab time was difficult to schedule, there were numerous technical problems, and I forgot how long the writing process can take if you want to do it right! I will use technology in future units, but time will be allowed to make the process and use of technological tools more meaningful..
