Introduction Overview  Narratives  Exhibits Reflection
1. Technology Operations and Concepts

Teachers demonstrate a sound understanding of technology operations and concepts.

Teachers:
Demonstrate introductory knowledge, skills and understanding of concepts related to
           technology.
Demonstrate continual growth in technology knowledge and skills to stay abreast of
           current and emerging technologies.

By engaging in the MITTEN PROJECT I have displayed an introductory knowledge,       skills, growth and understnding of technology.  I use technology with toddlers, parents, and college students. The toddlers revisit the pictures taken from the digital camera and video displayed in the classroom (Lesson Plan #2).  I send pictures home for the parents to see what takes place in the classroom with their child and friends. Letters are sent home, using the computer and software programs, to communicate classroom information and encouragement to parents.  Parenting concern are also addressed, such as toileting issues, to facilitate the parents with needs they are facing.   I model effective ways to use technoloy in the classroom for the college student to enhance better understanding of how and what children are interested in.

11. Planning and Designing Learning Environments and Experiences

Teachers plan and design effective learning environments and experiences supported by
  technology.

Teachers:
Design developmentally appropriate learning opportunities that apply technology enhanced
instructional strategies to support the diverse needs of learners.
Apply current research on teaching and learning with technology when planning learning
           environments and experiences.
Identify and locate technology resources and evaluate them for accuracy and suitability.
Plan strategies to manage student learning in a technology enhanced environment.

Planning lesson plans for each day requires knowing the childrens needs and then engaging them to develop their skills. In this process, I use the digital camera and video camera to learn and display what the children are interested in for the children to revisit, and for me to be able to extend that ongoing learning environment.
Revisiting through the pictures of the digital and video camera and planning similar activities enables the children to explore more, and enhance their understanding of their world and environment. (exhibit #1)
Toddlers actually using technology is inappropriate developmentally (e.g., Hohmann, 1998).  It is recommended children under three years of age use more interactive, hands on approach to learning.   They are exploring their space and environment through their senses.  I do give them opportunity to see the pictures and videos of themselves.

111. Teaching, Learning and the Curriculum

Teachers implement curriculum plans that include methods and strategies for applying
  technology to maximize student learning.

Teachers:
Facilitate technology-enhanced experiences that address content standards and student
           technology standards.
Use technology to support learner-centered strategies that address the diverse needs of
           students.
Apply technology to develop students' higher order skills and creativity.
Manage student learning activities in a technology-enhanced environment.

Lesson Plans were taught and met the Early Childhood Standards of Quality (ECSQ) and Michigan Curriculum Framework.

Through planned lessons the children and explore and interact with materials. Their thoughts and  ideas may or may not be shared at this time.  Often while the children are engaged in the activity they have very few words.  However, by bringing pictures and video back into the classroom more language is shared.  In our interaction with water and ice the children discovered new concepts which display their higher order thinking skills.

iV.  Assessment and Evaluation

Teachers apply technology to facilitate a variety of effective assessment and evaluation
  strategies.

Teachers:
Apply technology in assessing student learning of subject matter using a variety of
           assessment techniques.
Use technology resources to collect and analyze data, interpret results, and communicate
findings to improve instructional practice and maximize student learning.
Apply multiple methods of evaluation to determine students' appropriate use of technology
resources for learning, communication, and productivity.

The developmental checklist assists in observing the strengths and areas of developmental need.  From this we can develop lessons which provide opportunities for the children to become stronger.  This tool is created on the computer to evaluate each child twice a year.
I also observe the children's learning style as they interact with activities.  Through this type of observation I can determine their strength and weaknesses.  I can plan activities which will further develop their interest and skills and stretch each child in the area of need.

V. Productivity and Professional Practice

Teachers use technology to enhance their productivity and professional practice.

Teachers:
Use technology resources to engage in ongoing professional development and lifelong
           learning.
Continually evaluate and reflect on professional practice to make informed decisions
regarding the use of technology in support of student learning.
       Apply technology to increase productivity.
Use technology to communicate and collaborate with peers, parents, and the larger
community in order to nurture student learning.

Through the Reggio Philosophy technology is a piece of documentation used to teach the college students how to find and develop the area of interest of the children.  From this our curriculum is developed. It is an ongoing process to use technology to learn from the children, teach the college students and share information with the parents.  I use the technology to revisit and discover what the children are interested in to create and shape the curriculum.
                 Technology assists with:
                   - Children's self esteem
                   - Bridging school and home
                   - Displaying child's interest and ability
                   - Reflecting school curriculum
                   - Mentor teacher and student teacher collaboration

V1.Social, Ethical, Legal and Human Issues

Teachers understand the social, ethical, legal, and human issues surrounding the use of
technology in PK - 12 schools and apply that understanding in practice.

Teachers:
Model and teach legal and ethical practice related to technology use.
Apply technology resources to enable and empower learners with diverse backgrounds,
           characteristics, and abilities.
Identify and use technology resources that affirm diversity.
Promote safe and healthy use of technology resources.
Facilitate equitable access to technology resources for all students.

Because of children's safety and privacy issues I do not want their pictures available on the internet for someone to view.  However, pictures are displayed in my classroom and sent home for the parents to know about their child's friends and what their child accomplishes.  Since  language is often limited with this age of children parents are encouraged by seeing what their child is doing through pictures.
Parents are invited to join is in an activity and share their culture or interest with us.

I share web sites with the parents to assist them in parenting skills.
