Hull Elementary School

I completed my student teaching experience at Hull Elementary school in Livonia Michigan. I had a first grade classroom with 21 students. For the purpose of my technology enhanced unit, I explored the school to see what kind of technology was available to me. My classroom has one computer, a television, and a VCR. Just in the past week our television was hooked up to the computer monitor. This gives the students the opportunity to view websites and intructional materials that the teacher has on the screen. My school also houses a computer lab with enough computers for each of my students. The lab is equipped with a projection system hooked up to the teachers' computer, and two printers. Each computer enables students to enjoy educational games, KidPix, Inspiration 6.0, the student writing center, and a variety of paint programs. For the purpose of my unit, I used the Inspiration 6.0 program to excite my students.

Livonia Public Schools

Livonia is located about 25 miles from Detroit Michigan. The district is a well established community with a variety of parks, community centers, libraries, ice rinks, and golf courses. After completing my unit, I feel proud that I upheld what the Livonia Public Schools strive to accomplish. My individual lessons encorporate many of the technology standards. I also tried to uphold the mission statement. I teamed together with my cooperating teacher to ensure that all my students learn. I also shared my ideas with the Hull staff at a staff meeting. My overall experience with Livonia has been one that I will always remember.
