I agree with Theresa's logic, make no mistake about it. I also believe that the Cold War was unavoidable. Yet I believe Theresa fails to see both perspectives. Any issue, regardless of importance value, has two, possibly more points of view. If both sides see their view as "right" and "just" then they will not passively acquiesce(look it up Daryll) to the other point of view. When two conflicting sides(that means they're arguing) believe in opposite viewpoints, neither is willing to give up their values and beliefs. Two equally belligerent(Daryll to Websters again) points of view will not give up ground on an issue. Allow me to use a simpletons example. Pushme-Pullme, the two headed llama in Dr. Doolittle(not Eddie Murphy's). It is evident that Pushme wanted to go in a different direction as Pullme, but since they were joined at the midsection, neither gave up any ground, and both eventually tired. If Pushme(U.S.) and Pullme(Soviet Union) could have came to a compromise, then the Cold War would have never happened. But it is "human" nature to argue, and to keep one's ideals close. Therefore, I believe that the Cold War was unavoidable.
