To evaluate the effectiveness of the ERES online discussion board I developed a survey for students. Students were asked to rate ERES for ease of use and value to their learning and to provide comments. The results can be found in survey results. 

 

• During Winter 2004 I used VLT to incorporate technology into EDC 410/511, Developing Constructive Peer Social Relationships in a variety of ways. The following are some of examples:

• Online discussion for EDC 410 undergraduate students
• Online discussion for EDC 511graduate students
• Links to internet resources on social emotional development
• PowerPoint slides of classroom lectures
• Recording grades on VLT which allowed students to view their grades for course assignments online

To evaluate the effectiveness of using VLT for online discussions I once again developed a survey for students to rate their experience using VLT for ease of use and value to their learning . The VLT survey results were generally positive. The 21 students rated VLT a 4.0 for ease and usefulness (on a scale of 1-5) and wrote mostly positive comments about their experience. Many students had more trouble getting to articles and power point slides on VLT. I ended up having to use Eres as a back-up for readings and powerpoint slides

• During Fall 2004 I used CTools for the course web page for EDB 421/521, Issues in Early Education and Child Care. In addition I used my Mitten project to enhance my teaching of EDC 445/545, Developmental Assessment of the Young Child. The following are ways I integrated technology into my teaching: 

• Scanning children's drawings to teach students how to analyze work samples as a form of authentic assessment
• Using digital photos of children actively engaged in early childhood classrooms to demonstrate how to observe development and learning
• Digitizing video of children in real life settings in order to teach future teachers how to record their observations of children's behaviors and development.
• Power Point slides of classroom lectures 
• Links to readings and important web sites which address policy initiatives, current issues and advocacy resources
