- Lesson Plans E-mailed from student teachers to
supervisor for review and comment. Supervisors at U of M-D visit
student teachers a minimum for four visits per semester. During
these visits students have lesson plans available for the supervisor in a
binder. The supervisor reads and makes comments on the plans (which
include units, Power Point presentations, resources and
assessments). At times student teachers attached plans to an e-mail.
This enabled me to give further comments and suggestions between my
visits. .
- On-Line Discussion Board for supervisor
and student teachers. During a student teaching contact there are nine
two-hour seminar sessions. The purpose of these seminars is to make
connections between educational theory, which they have learned at the
university, and classroom practices (classroom management, gender equity,
favorite websites, etc.). Since time is always too short, we have
used an on-line discussion board as a means of continuing
discussions. The U of M-D Virtual Learning Tool (VLT)
Question Board was easy to set up and to implement. Several
questions were posted by students and/or me to provide a vehicle for discussion of issues that
were of concern during student teaching. Click here for details.
- List of Favorite Websites for Teachers, as
suggested by student teachers. The number of websites available to
teachers today is overwhelming. As student teachers began to collect
some of their favorites. I have compiled a list from their suggestions. I will have this
list available both electronically and in hard copy. My goal is to
expand this list and to organize it by subject. This should be a
helpful resource to provide to future student teachers as they begin their
student teaching experience. It also should encourage more use of
technology in the classroom. Click here for details.
- Electronic Lesson Plan Templates are
available to student teachers. Templates have been
created for lesson planning formats (daily and weekly). They have
been downloaded by the students. This has provided for uniformity in planning, and a Word
document on which the student can write. Click here for details.
- Electronic Evaluation Templates are available
to the cooperating teachers and supervisor. Templates have been created for the final evaluation form for both the cooperating
teacher and the supervisor. This allows for a Word
Document that the cooperating teacher or supervisor can write on and forward. Click
here for details.
