| The following section
describes how I have met specific performance indicators for the ISTE
technology standards.
I.
TECHNOLOGY OPERATIONS AND CONCEPTS.
Teachers
demonstrate a sound understanding of technology operations and concepts.
Teachers:

A. demonstrate introductory knowledge, skills, and understanding of
concepts related to technology (as described in the ISTE National Education Technology
Standards for Students). By
creating this e-portfolio I have developed my knowledge of educational
technology. Prior to the MITTEN Project my experience has been limited
to e-mail and word processing.

B. demonstrate continual growth in technology knowledge and skills to
stay abreast of current and emerging technologies. Having
participated in workshops at the university on Web Design, Power Point,
software, Web search, Hyper Studio, and e-mail has provided me with the
ability to carry out the technology projects I did this semester. I plan
to continue in the project next year and to continue to enhance my skills and
put them to use in my position as a supervisor of student teachers.
II.
PLANNING AND DESIGNING LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS AND EXPERIENCES.
Teachers
plan and design effective learning environments and experiences supported by
technology. Teachers:

A. design developmentally appropriate learning opportunities that apply
technology-enhanced instructional strategies to support the diverse needs of
learners. Have
created
an On-line Discussion Board to discuss topics of concern to the student teachers. Creating a
List of
Favorite Websites has given me a resource
to share with future student teachers which will enhance their use of
technology in the classroom. E-mailing lesson plans has allowed me to
give feedback to students between observations. Templates for plans and
final evaluations has provided uniformity in planning and ease in
evaluating.

B. apply current research on teaching and learning with technology when
planning learning environments and experiences. Have found
websites on subjects which are discussed in seminars, and have electronically
sent them to
students.

C. identify and locate technology resources and evaluate them for
accuracy and suitability.

D. plan for the management of technology resources within the context
of learning activities. Having
used the discussion board has required some computer proficiency from student
teachers.

E. plan strategies to manage student learning in a technology-enhanced
environment.
III. TEACHING, LEARNING, AND THE CURRICULUM.
Teachers
implement curriculum plans, that include methods and strategies for applying
technology to maximize student learning. Teachers:

A. facilitate technology-enhanced experiences that address content
standards and student technology standards.

B. use technology to support learner-centered strategies that address
the diverse needs of students. Student
created website lists were student-originated. I simply am the compiler
of information.

C. apply technology to develop students' higher order skills and
creativity.

D. manage student learning activities in a technology-enhanced
environment.
IV.
ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION.
Teachers apply
technology to facilitate a variety of effective assessment and evaluation
strategies. Teachers:

A. apply technology in assessing student learning of subject matter
using a variety of assessment techniques. Had
student teachers e-mail lesson plans to me initially. This allowed me to
assess their knowledge of subject matter.

B. use technology resources to collect and analyze data, interpret
results, and communicate findings to improve instructional practice and
maximize student learning.

C. apply multiple methods of evaluation to determine students'
appropriate use of technology resources for learning, communication, and
productivity.
V.
PRODUCTIVITY AND PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE.
Teachers use
technology to enhance their productivity and professional practice. Teachers:

A. use technology resources to engage in ongoing professional
development and lifelong learning. As
a retired classroom teacher, participating in the MITTEN Project has involved me in
professional development, as well as lifelong learning. The
e-portfolio, discussion board, electronic lesson plans and workshops have
given me reasons to improve my knowledge of technology.

B. continually evaluate and reflect on professional practice to make
informed decisions regarding the use of technology in support of student
learning. Attending
MITTEN meetings has given me new ideas of how to use technology to support the
students’ learning.

C. apply technology to increase productivity. Using a discussion
board was an efficient means of contacting all students quickly.

D. use technology to communicate and collaborate with peers, parents,
and the larger community in order to nurture student learning.
Used e-mail as an ongoing means of contacting teachers and student
teachers.
VI.
SOCIAL, ETHICAL, LEGAL, AND HUMAN ISSUES.
Teachers
understand the social, ethical, legal, and human issues surrounding the use of
technology in PK-12 schools and apply those principles in practice. Teachers:

A. model and teach legal and ethical practice related to technology
use. As a teacher, I hope that I am always a
positive role model.

B. apply technology resources to enable and empower learners with
diverse backgrounds, characteristics, and abilities.

C. identify and use technology resources that affirm diversity.

D. promote safe and healthy use of technology resources.
Have discussed with the students the seriousness of carefully using
the Internet as a classroom tool.

E. facilitate equitable access to technology resources for all
students. Offered the use of the University lab to students for job
applications and web searches.
