Welcome to my e-portfolio!
- I am an elementary teacher involved with the MITTEN Project as
a cooperating teacher of a U of M-Dearborn student teacher.
- I have worked for Dearborn Public Schools for 30 years and am
currently teaching at Long Elementary in Dearborn.
- I work with 19 students in a 2nd-3rd Grade split class. There
are 12 2nd-graders and 7 3rd-graders in our class. We have 5 computers in
our classroom and a lab readily available to our students.
- Long School has 225 students. Class size is fairly small in most
classes and students receive lots of individual attention and an array of
support services, as needed.
- The students in our class have had some computer experiences
in previous grades and a few have extensive background from using home computers.
This year they are receiving an additional 90 minutes of scheduled computer
instruction that is linked to the curriculum of their respective grade level.
- Software includes, but is not limited to Apple Works, Microsoft
Office, KidPix, Kidspiration, imovie, Media/Image Blender, and Power Point.
- Long School is proud to have 5 MITTEN student teachers from U
of M-Dearborn sharing expertise with Long staff in Grades 2 - 5.
Regarding the level of available technology,
we have five iMac computers in our classroom and one color printer. We
also have a mini-lab located in our media center with 6 Dell Computers.
In addition, we have a fully functioning computer lab of 30 eMacs. We also
have available a wireless lab of 17 ibook laptop computers.
- Staff has at their disposal 3 Digital camcorders,
3 Digital cameras, 2 scanners, 2 LCD Projectors, 2 CD burners, and new this
year, a SMART Interactive Video System, including a live video production
cart.
