Welcome to my
technology portfolio
  • As a student at the University of Michigan - Dearborn, I completed my certification program in secondary English and Social Studies.  In addition, I have a Bachelor's Degree from  Central Michigan University. Before returning to college for my teaching certification,  I worked in management and training; yet, I always knew I would eventually become a teacher.
  • I have also worked as a reading tutor with the Kumon Center in Dearborn Heights.  While I worked with a wide range of ages, my specialty was working with the upper-level students.
  • I created this portfolio while student teaching at Dearborn High School in Dearborn, MI.  I taught 10th grade Language Arts and an elective course, titled Literary Explorations, which is taken mainly by 11th and 12th grade students.

The School

  • Dearborn High School has approximately 1600 students made up of a diverse student body. Within my classes alone, I had students from India, Iraq, Somalia, Mexico, Lebanon, and  Sierra Leone.  The diverse backgrounds of  my students provided for an enriched learning environment for all.
  • The Dearborn School District is in the process of implementing a technology grant approved by the community.  Television monitors have been placed in every classroom at Dearborn High School.  Teachers have all received a Dell desktop computer that allows the classroom to connect to the Internet.  The school is now participating in the online Zangle program for attendance and grades.  Eventually, parents will be able to view both grades and attendance for their child online.
