Introduction Overview Narratives Exhibits Reflection

This project went extremely well. Working with Jennifer who has been through the project once already was nice because she had a basic feel for what the layout of the project is and how it should basically go.  She helped me immensely with the lessons, using the equipment, and pulling all the lessons together.

We started our project right away which was nice because it allowed more time for us to reflect and look at our activities and change, revisit, and create new activities based off our other activities that worked so well.  We agreed upon a topic on the second day of school so we could start to create ideas and lessons.  One of our first lessons was creating the Who's Who Board.

The children were such good sports at dealing with the issues that arose with the project, whether it was the camera not working, the video taping at all times, or a number of the other happenings that occurred.  Not too many issues came up during this project because we started so early.  When an issue would arise, we had time to refigure or manipulate our lessons to be better or to work better with the students.  The lessons, for the most part, went smoothly because of the help from Jennifer and all the staff and university students' help.

I feel that through our project the children now have a better self concept and are more willing to freely talk about themselves where at the beginning of the project, it was very difficult to get the children to open up about themselves.  Their ideas and reactions bloomed over the semester and allowed for myself and the other teachers to see the true child and their thoughts.  By the end, the children were more willing to speak about themselves, discuss their feelings, and had a better sense and feeling of community.

This project was an amazing experience and has allowed me to enhance my skills with technology and integrating it into the classroom.  I hope to eventually take my new knowledge and expand it in my own classroom to benefit my students.  I could not have made it through this project were it not for Jennifer and her knowledge of the project and how it runs.  We worked well as a team and created a great project for the semester and hopefully to be continued beyond.  I hope that if a student is assigned to Intern with Jennifer next semester, they will continue our theme to encourage the children to progress even farther and enhance their self esteem higher.
