Looking Back...
  • As I look back on all the trials and errors of my science unit I'm filled with a strange sense of satisfaction.  In the beginning I looked at Samuel Long as being technologically advanced.  The school gives this impression because of its computer lab and mobile cart.  Once you scratch the surface of this illusion you begin to find out that most of the software isn't even working properly, and some isn't even installed on all of the computers.
  • Two of the best technology activities that I incorporated into my science technology unit were "Creating a Coaster" and "Illustrating the First Law."  Students really had a fun time doing both of these projects and seemed to develop a greater understanding of their concepts.
  • One technology that I would change slightly is "Moving Marbles."  I found some interesting interactive web sites with demonstrate acceleration of objects.  Since many of the students found the idea of acceleration to be slightly difficult, any extra information such as this may be useful in helping them to understand.
