Procedure:

Purpose: The students will experience American life in the 1950's by navigating the 1950's webquest.  The students will make connections between what they find on the webquest and Charlotte's Web, which was written in the 1950's.

Anticipatory Set:  1950's KWL chart group activity.

Input:  The teacher leads a group discussion and prompts the students to discover why the social studies portion of the unit titled "A Spider's Web" would be about the 1950's.  As the KWL is completed, students will discover that the fifties time period is when Charlotte's Web was written.

Modeling/Guided Practice:  The teacher will introduce the webquest using an LCD projector and show the students the basic skills necessary for navigation.

Checking for Understanding:  The teacher will ask random students what the task at hand is, and monitor student progress.

Independent Practice:  The students will complete the webquest and organize information collected into a Power Point slide show or give an oral report.

Closure Activity:  The students will present their Power Point slide shows or give their oral reports as an individual from the 1950's time period.
