Procedure:

Purpose:  The students will connect what was read in Charlotte's Web and their terrarium observations to what they have researched and presented in their slide shows.

Anticipatory Set:  The students will watch the video titled Magic School Bus Spins A Web.

Input:  The teacher will present expectations for the Power Point presentation, and instructs the students to gather information from more than one source for their slide show.

Modeling/Guided Practice:  The teacher will demonstrate how to locate appropriate literature in the media center, how to collect it, and how to cite it.  The teacher will model how to design a Power Point slide show using the LCD projector.

Checking for Understanding:  The teacher will randomly ask students of the activity expectations after instructions are given. The teacher will monitor student progress.

Independent Practice:  In groups of three, the students will compose an 11-page slide show with their data collected.  The students may elect to make one 11-page slide show about one type of spider, or an 11-page slide show where each student develops 3 slides that showcase research on their chosen spider.

Closure Activity:  The students will showcase their Power Point slide shows using the LCD projector in the computer lab.
