KRISTEN F. FARKAS
Introduction Overview Narratives Exhibits Reflection

If children are apparently unable to learn, we should assume we have not yet found the right way to teach them.

Welcome to my e-portfolio!

Who am I?

  • My name is Kristen Farkas, and I am a May 2004 graduate from the University of Michigan-Dearborn.   I had the privilege of student teaching in the Dearborn School District in the winter of 2004.  My classroom consists of 20 students; 11 of which are 4th graders, and the remaining 9 are 5th graders.  The situation may sound complicated, but it is not.  The students work well together and love having a student teacher.
  • My cooperating teacher and I are participants in the MITTEN program at UM-D.  The student teachers and cooperating staff members in our building are piloting an uncharted area of the MITTEN program, called CCII.  Our project goal is to identify student weaknesses through standardized test scores and classroom observation; from there, we integrate technology into our lesson plans, assess learning, and evaluate our instruction.
  • Our building has technology resources aplenty; the students have regular access a computer lab equipped with 30 eMacs, an LCD projector, and a scanner.  According to the StaR chart survey, our building is at the mid-tech level for technology.  I like to think of our resources, staff, and students as high-tech, because our we love the convenience of the teaching and learning cycle with technology!
