My name is Jeff Wozniak and I am currently a fourth grade teacher at Long
Elementary School in Dearborn, Michigan. I have been teaching for
14 years with experience in grades 1 through 5. I have a Bachelors
Degree in Business from Michigan State University and a Masters in Education
from Eastern Michigan University. Prior to the MITTEN project my
involvement with technology in the classroom was limited to simple word
processing and subject research using the internet.
Long Elementary has a wealth of technology including digital video and still cameras, a scanner, color printers, a computer lab with 30 E Mac desktop computers, a portable wireless computer lab with 17 laptop computers, LCD projector, and applications such as I Movie, I Photo, Image Blender, Microsoft Power Point, plus lots of other hardware and software. According to the STAR Chart, Long is considered a High Tech level. The STaR chart helps to determine the amount and type of technology available at a facility. This information is useful in determining what type of technology is present to support lessons. The type and amount of technology will dictate how and what type of lesson plans can be used in this environment. For more information
