Overall, I feel that integrating technology into our Language Arts unit worked very well. The students very much enjoyed using Primary Sources to learn about the Depression Era, and were able to gain knowledge from these sources that they would not have gotten if using only Secondary Sources. I believe this was most beneficial to my students, and will continue to use Primary Sources when teaching in the future. While my students and I enjoyed using the Kid Pix program, this is something I would not attempt to do again, unless the program was installed in the computer lab. Because Kid Pix was installed only on my cooperating teacher's lap top, it took an incredible amount of time to complete this project. I believe this time could have been better spent. I have very much enjoyed working with technology while student teaching. I feel the experience of integrating technology into the curriculum has made my teaching and my lessons more effective, and I will continue to use technology in the classroom throughout my teaching career. |
