Welcome to my E-portfolio!

I am a graduate of The University of Michigan - Dearborn and a member of the National Council for Teachers of English as well as the National Council for the Social Studies.  With distinction in May, 2004 I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in English and History.  I chose these content areas because I find it fascinating how much they affect each other.   I enjoy discovering History within literature and seeing how History affects all types of literature.  I feel technology is important for both English and History because the importance of it for students continuously increases.  In this sense, technology can be used as a bridge to pique student interest in both of these vital and fascinating subjects.

During my last semester at U of M-D, I did my student teaching at  Roosevelt High School in the Wyandotte Public School District in Wyandotte, Michigan.   With the cooperation and support of Pat Haley, I taught 9th grade U.S. History to students with a wide range of technological skills.  Some students were uncomfortable simply logging into the school's computers while others took the initiative to turn their term project into a website.

According to the CEO Forum's STaR Chart assessment, Roosevelt High School is at the mid-tech level. The benefits of being at a mid-tech level include access to multimedia content to improve higher order thinking, more available resources , and most students, teachers, and parents can readily communicate.
