Each student had the opportunity to lead discussion and participate in the process of finding the story's themes.

Students work in groups using the "profundity" model to find the themes in the story.

   


The students worked in groups of four, each child holding a different colored marker.  The  marker color designated each students job in this cooperative learning activity.

 

 

 

 

Each group had to collectively decide what the three most important events were for a main character in the novel.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The discussion was focused and each group did a great job finding the themes from the story.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Character motivation and asking if actions were right or wrong were part of the decision making process.
