Lesson 1: Pre-test & Intro
Objective:
TSWBAT start to fill out a KWL chart together as a class.
Michigan Benchmark:
Tech.3.LE.4: Use technologies to organize thoughts in a logical process.
Materials:
Pre-Test, pencils, TV monitor, computer with Inspiration, directions for
next class period.
Anticipatory Set:
Who has heard the word economics? What could it mean?
Modeling Activity/Guided Practice:
Together we will start to fill out a KWL, with the students raising
their hand to offer information while I type it into the computer for
all to see.
Independent Practice:
Students will take the pre-test. I will let them know that it's ok if
you don't know or understand something, this is just a pre-test and by
the time you take the test at the end of the unit you will have learned
about economics. I will grade the tests, but it's not going to count for
a grade in the class, it will be used to measure how much you learned.
Closure:
What do you think about economics today? Are you ready to learn? Pass
out directions for next class-they must read the directions before
coming to class next time.
Assessment:
I will score their pre-tests, but they won't count for a grade. There
isn't really anything to assess with this lesson since it is just an
introduction to the unit rather than teaching anything.
