Professional Background

My name is Denise Tipler.  I am currently a student at the University of Michigan, Dearborn, (UMD).  I will graduate from UMD May 2, 2004 with a Bachalor of Arts Degree in education, with language arts as my major and social studies as a minor.

My student teaching experience took place in Janurary 2004 at Morris Adler Elementary School in Southfield, Michigan.  Adler Elementary School is a bright and pleasant one level school.  There are approximately 400 students at the school.  The Principal, is supportative of the staff and student  body.
The technology at Adler Elementary (according to the STaR Chart) is mid tech level.  In our classroom we have three computers, cable t.v, VCR, telephones, voicemail, projection devices, calculators, two printers, tape recorders/player with earphones, and a new digital camera with attachments.  Southfield School System provides a technocial support person when a request is made.  The Principal is very supporative of technology in the classroom.  All of our students have some knowledge of  computers.

During my educational experiences at University of Michigan, Dearborn, I had the opportunity to participate in the Mitten Program, Michigan Teachers' Technology Education Network.  A program that assist teachers in becoming proficient with computers.
