Welcome to My e-Portfolio
Hello, my name is Deanne Jones.  I share teach a fourth grade class at Long Elementary in Dearborn.  I have been teaching for seven years, five of which were in the fifth grade.  I received my undergraduate degree from Western Michigan University and a Masters in the Art of Teaching from Marygrove College.
Long Elementary is located on the west side of Dearborn and consists of approximately 225 students from kindergarten to fifth grade.   The theme of our school is service learning, which teaches students to provide a service to benefit people of the community.  For example, my fifth graders partnered up with senior citizens once a week and taught them how to use the computer, explore the internet, and email friends and family.
We have a lab of 30 computers, a wireless lab, five student computers per classroom, an LCD projector, a scanner, digital cameras, and digital video cameras.  Furthermore, we are fortunate to have a computer teacher providing technology lessons for grades K-5.
According to the STAR Chart, Long is considered a High Tech level. The STaR chart helps to determine the amount and type of technology available at a facility.  This information is useful in determining what type of technology is present to support lessons.  The type and amount of technology will dictate how and what type of lesson plans can be used in this environment.
