Welcome to my e-portfolio!

Hello!  My name is Dawn Davis and I am currently a student at the University of Michigan - Dearborn.  I will be receiving a Bachelors of Arts in Elementary Education in December 2003.  I am majoring in Mathematics with a minor in Science.  Upon graduation, I will be certified to teach all elementary grades.  I will also be certified to teach middle school Mathematics and Science.

I am student teaching at McKinley Elementary School in a third- and fourth- grade classroom, under Mrs. Nicole Riopelle.  There are 12 third-grade students and 13 fourth-grade students in our room.  McKinley Elementary School is in the district of Wyandotte and is a school of choice.  Of the 317 students, 195 students, or 62% are from other districts.  I decided to participate in the MITTEN (Michigan Teachers' Technology Education Network) program to learn how to effectively use technology in the classroom.

Wyandotte School District

The Wyandotte School District has approximately 1,100 students.  The district has six elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. Upon completion of the CEO Forum's Interactive School Readiness StaR Chart we found that McKinley Elementary is operating at a Mid Tech level.  Our school has one computer lab containing apple computers connected to the Internet.  We also have a digital camera and two scanners available.  Each classroom has an overhead projector and a television.  The televisions are inter-connected so that every class can see the same thing at the same time.  These are used every morning while the school says the school pledge and the Pledge of Allegiance.
