| Standard I It is in my EDT 410 class that I was introduced to such children's software as Kidspiration, Inspiration, and KidPix. Now I am able to utilize these programs for diverse functions such as creating templates and am able to base lessons around the abilities of these programs and my students. I am also extremely familiar with the Internet, and am able to find quality websites for educational purposes as well as research. This has served as an amazing tool for finding lesson ideas, activities which extend the learning of students, and for research purposes. I have also worked on creating websites of my own and know how to post information to a server. In addition, I regularly use e-mail to keep in contact with professors, teachers, and parents, and often use it as a primary means to communication. I am able to use all the functions available with standard e-mailing, including attaching photos, files, and compressed files. Other knowledge of technology includes the use of digital cameras, scanners, and software used for manipulating digital images, which include Adobe Photoshop 6, Adobe Acrobat, and Adobe Reader. I have a digital camera and a printer/scanner/fax combination of my own at home, and use all of these on a regular basis. Finally, I am extremely familiar with the hardware of a computer, as I have helped to assemble my own computer. I have also installed all of my own software, so I am able to troubleshoot just about any hardware or software problem because of these experiences. To keep up to date on technology issues, I also occasionally watch Tech TV and subscribed to Ed Net, a listserv that communicates current information about technology.
