NATIONAL
EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY STANDARDS FOR ALL TEACHERS (NETS-T)
I.
TECHNOLOGY OPERATIONS AND CONCEPTS.
Teachers demonstrate a sound understanding of technology operations and
concepts.
I am
quite familiar with technology standards and am in the process of
developing a proficiency with technology in my courses. I have
become familiar with various forms of technology for possible
integration into the student teaching seminars and to support student
teachers' learning on line. I am prepared to continue to apply new
technology to my courses so that each semester new and efficient
technologies are used.
B. demonstrate continual growth in technology knowledge and skills to stay
abreast of current and emerging technologies.
This
fall semester (2003)I have demonstrated evidence of applying new skills in
the following area: I have used FrontPage to develop the e-portfolio, and it
is available on the MITTEN website. Exhibits posted on the web-site are
Word Documents, Power Point Presentations and Websites which are linked to
the browser. Additionally, I have posted my course web-sites, using
Virtual Learning Tool (VLT), and using digital photographic skills to
enhance the presentations. I learned to post Word documents on the
web-site, which will be ready for Winter Semester, 2004.
II. PLANNING AND DESIGNING LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS AND EXPERIENCES.
Teachers plan and design effective learning environments and experiences
supported by technology. Teachers:
A. design developmentally appropriate learning opportunities that apply
technology-enhanced instructional strategies to support the diverse needs of
learners.
I
am developing a set of resource materials, which are appropriate for student
teachers and other instructors to use in their classrooms. I enjoy sharing resources, especially the use of cooperative group strategies.
B. apply current research on teaching and learning with technology when
planning learning environments and experiences.
I am
planning to utilize research on line through the professional resources
available through the UM-Dearborn Library. When placing items on the course
site, I plan to use only resources which are research-based and found to be
best instructional practices.
C. identify and locate technology resources and evaluate them for accuracy
and suitability.
I am using VLT, and other MITTEN resources, library and Microsoft and web
sites.
D. plan for the management of technology resources within the context
of learning activities.
Using
files on notebook and the internet and bi-monthly seminars I can organize
and facilitate resources for my students.
E. plan strategies to manage student learning in a technology-enhanced
environment.
My
agenda and seminar topics are already planned and most of them
already posted on the MITTEN website. I still have to post
additional resources on my course web site.
III. TEACHING, LEARNING, AND THE CURRICULUM.
Teachers implement curriculum plans, that include methods and strategies
for applying technology to maximize student learning.
My
curriculum plan is implemented and adapted for next semester. Each
semester, my students will have more choices and resources as I become
more technologically proficient.
A. facilitate technology-enhanced experiences that address content standards
and student technology standards.
Standards are the basis of all of my course materials. As I become
more familiar with the standards so will my students.
B. use technology to support learner-centered strategies that address
the diverse needs of students.
Differentiated learning, Habits of Mind and Multiple Intelligences
research and strategies are incorporated into resources, lesson plans, seminar
discussions and formal observations and evaluations.
C.
apply technology to develop students' higher order skills and creativity.
Research articles and instructional strategies to develop higher
order thinking are available for students and myself to use.
D. manage student learning activities in a technology-enhanced environment.
Through
electronic filing and my notebook I can manage the courses more
effectively.
IV. ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION
Teachers apply technology to facilitate a variety of effective
assessment and evaluation strategies.
A. apply technology in assessing student learning of subject matter using
a variety of assessment techniques.
On
going assessment is conducted to evaluate my own effectiveness in proving
technological support to my students Students are now able to provide me
feedback on line. .
B. use technology resources to collect and analyze data, interpret results,
and communicate findings to improve instructional practice and maximize
student learning.
Assessment, observations and reflections provide evidence of results
C. apply multiple methods of evaluation to determine students' appropriate
use of technology resources for learning, communication, and productivity.
Alternative assessments, including feedback from mentor teachers and
student teachers and administrators are collected.
V. PRODUCTIVITY AND PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE
Teachers use technology to enhance their productivity and professional
practice.
A. use technology resources to engage in ongoing professional development
and lifelong learning.
I
attended MITTEN workshops, work sessions: Front Page, On line course
design, on line discussion board. I also use the internet for additional
resources for my classes.
B. continually evaluate and reflect on professional practice to make informed
decisions regarding the use of technology in support of student learning.
Reflections are recorded and records kept on file.
C. apply technology to increase productivity.
Seminar
resources are provided and available on the web and can more easily be
modified and posted each semester. I am more organized and efficient
through technology available to me and my students.
D. use technology to communicate and collaborate with peers, parents,
and the larger community in order to nurture student learning.
All
students are members of internet groups and can gain access to internet
resources (email, VLT, MITTEN, web sites.)
VI. SOCIAL, ETHICAL, LEGAL, AND HUMAN ISSUES
Teachers understand the social, ethical, legal, and human issues surrounding
the use of technology in PK-12 schools and apply those principles in practice.
Teachers:
Information about the issues are shared with students.
A. model and teach legal and ethical practice related to technology use.
As instructor, I work along with students in modeling aspects of the
learning community. We share learning strategies in seminar and post
artifacts and resources, templates and models of effective teaching on the
web.
B. apply technology resources to enable and empower learners with diverse
backgrounds, characteristics, and abilities.
Each
student bring to the class a unique perspective and set of concerns about
student teaching. Through technology they have greater access to
alternative solutions for individual problem solving, a component of the
student teaching course.
C. identify and use technology resources that affirm diversity.
All
students bring their own diversity and that of their children to the
seminar discussions.
D. promote safe and healthy use of technology resources.
Safety
and health issues are promoted as part of student teaching process.
E. facilitate equitable access to technology resources for all students.
Equity
is the focus of all seminar and student teaching resources. Greater equity
is achieved through equal access to the documents, discussions and
internet resources.
