The Mission of Monroe Elementary School is to meet the needs of all of the students by providing education through the use of current technological methods of instruction, and to create life long learners who are productive, participating, and caring citizens of their communities.

Welcome!!

Hello!  My name is Alicia Whitmore, and I am working to finish my Bachelors Degree in elementary education at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. I am currently student teaching in a fourth grade classroom at James Monroe Elementary in Wyandotte, Michigan.

Monroe Elementary School is home to about 300 Kindergarten-6th grade students.  Since Wyandotte Public Schools participate in the school of choice program, the students at Monroe are from both Wyandotte and other surrounding communities.  Monroe is NCA accredited and has received the state of Michigan Golden Apple award for improved Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) scores on two separate occasions.

Technology is an important tool at Monroe Elementary School.  Monroe is an Integrated Technology Academy, which means that the teachers and the students at Monroe use technology on a regular basis.  Each class in the school visits the computer lab twice a week, giving each student the opportunity to use technology regularly.  Monroe Elementary School is rated a Mid Tech school according to the  ISTE STaR Chart. Click here to see our results.

Monroe Elementary has other technology available as well. The school has a broadcasting studio that is run by the Title 1 program, containing digital video, digital cameras, and a digital switcher to move information between the cameras.  The building also has Alpha Smarts, scanners, digital cameras, and digital projectors.
