Updated Business Objects Training

In December, Human Resources introduced the 2008 UM-Dearborn Staff Development and Training Programs.  The following information includes details on the Business Process courses being offered related to Business Objects reporting training.  The following dates have been scheduled on campus to train staff on Business Objects Financial and Human Resource Data.

1.  Business Objects (BO Financial Data):  This session will focus on how to use Business Objects to obtain reports and information for Financial Data. Topics that will be covered are retrieving and modifying existing predefined reports, creating ad-hoc queries, and creating informative reports. This will be interactive training session where many topics will be discussed and real data will be used to retrieve meaningful results.  The instructor will present several demonstrations and users will also be given the opportunity to bring their reporting needs in order for them to be created in the classroom for everyone to see and learn from (keeping in mind that some data is sensitive).
This course will be facilitated by Noel Hornbacher, Assistant Controller.    
   
    Financial Data Business Objects Training: (2 dates to choose from)

    March 17, 2008 - 8:30am - 11:30am, 1130 PEC  OR
    March 25, 2008 - 1:00pm -   4:00pm, 1130 PEC

If you have suggestions related to specific reports that you would like to explore during this training laboratory, please send a description of them to Noel Hornbacher beforehand noelhorn@umd.umich.edu.

  2.  Business Objects (BO Human Resource Data): This session will provide training on how to obtain reports and information for Human Resource Data.  This is an introduction to understanding Human Resource Data in the U-M Data Warehouse. Users will learn about the different data environments, various HR data sets, and the proper use of data. This course is primarily for those who run reports or queries using Business Objects. Access to the HR data sets and prior experience with Business Objects is required. This course will be facilitated by Traci Buckner, Human Resources Information Service Senior Analyst.

**All of the attendees will need to take a on-line Business Objects training prior to the session listed below via MAISLINC found at:  http://www.mais.umich.edu/  under Systems: MyLINC/MAIS LINC (after signing in with your unique name search for DDE, the required courses will become available).  If you are an InfoView user take DDE001.  If you are a WebI user take DDE002.

    **DDE001 DW BusinessObjects InfoView - Running Predefined Reports   
    **DDE002 DW BusinessObjects WebI - Modifying Predefined Reports

InfoView access is needed if the user will be retrieving and working with predefined queries. WebI access is needed for users that need to create unique reports or alter predefined reports.
