UM-Dearborn's School of Management has been re-accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business

DEARBORN / Jan. 15, 2008---The School of Management at the University of Michigan-Dearborn has been re-accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), a widely regarded measure of the quality of the school’s programs in business education. Management has been accredited by AACSB since 1997.

Fewer than 10 percent of the world’s business schools have achieved accreditation from AACSB. Founded in 1916, AACSB is the longest serving and largest global accrediting body for business schools that offer undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees in business and accounting.

“Our faculty and staff have focused much effort on examining all of our programs not only for the re-accreditation process, but to make sure we’re doing all we can to prepare our students for challenging and rewarding careers in business,” according to Kim Schatzel, dean of the School of Management. “The goal is to ensure the highest quality learning environment, a commitment to continuous improvement, and curricula responsive and relevant to the needs of leading corporations and growing entrepreneurial firms.”

The School of Management offers bachelor’s degrees in business administration and master’s degrees in business administration, finance and accounting, as well as an MBA/MSF dual degree. The part-time MBA and master’s in finance are two graduate degree programs that can be completed on campus, totally online, or a combination of online and on campus. With students from more than 14 countries and 28 states, they are two of the largest and highly regarded online graduate business degree programs in the nation as recognized by AASCB, according to Schatzel. The School is planning to introduce an “executive MBA” program next year.

“It takes a great deal of commitment and determination to earn AACSB accreditation,” according to Jerry Trapnell, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB International. “These schools have met rigorous standards of excellence, as well as made a commitment to ongoing improvement that ensures that they will deliver a high-quality education to students.”
