New online tool helps transfer students

 

Campus launches Course Transfer System, a searchable online database of classes that potentially transfer to UM-Dearborn

DEARBORN / June 1, 2006---Community college students who are considering transferring to the University of Michigan-Dearborn now have an online tool to help them determine which courses will count toward degree programs at the university.

UM-Dearborn’s Office of Admissions and Orientation, in conjunction with Information Technology Services, has launched an online Course Transfer System, a searchable database of classes that potentially transfer to UM-Dearborn. Prospective transfer students can search by individual course or by discipline or subject.

"The Course Transfer System is yet another tool for prospective transfer students to provide them with up-to-date, accurate information that enhances their transition to UM-Dearborn," according to Christopher W. Tremblay, director of admissions and orientation.

The new system is not an official credit evaluation, Tremblay said. Once students have been admitted, an academic advisor will help the student interpret his/her official Transfer Equivalency Worksheet to determine how transferred coursework will be applied to his or her chosen program requirements.
