Longtime UM-Dearborn supporter and alumnus Frederick W. Hoffman joins the campus as part-time director of strategic university relationships

Longtime University of Michigan-Dearborn supporter and alumnus Frederick W. Hoffman has joined the University as part-time director of strategic university relationships. In this role, he will work closely with University leadership to enhance campus relationships with the business community.
Hoffman, a UM-Dearborn alumnus (Ď73 CASL), recently served as a special advisor for economic development and special projects to former Gov. Jennifer Granholm and prior to that spent 20 years as a Chrysler government relations executive.
As a University volunteer for more than 35 years, Hoffman has served several terms as a Board of Regents appointee on UM-Dearbornís Citizens Advisory Committee, on the Environmental Interpretative Center Advisory Committee and the CASL Dean's Advisory Committee. In 2007 Hoffman and his partner, James R. Stokes, created an endowed scholarship for UM-Dearborn students.
An attorney, Hoffman currently serves as counsel for the law firm of Clark Hill PLC and as a senior advisor for the Center for Automotive Research. He is a member of the boards of R.L. Polk & Co., Detroit Wayne County Port Authority, Metropolitan Affairs Coalition, Rainbow Connection, a wish-granting charity and the Welcoming Michigan Committee. Hoffman also serves as honorary consul in Michigan for the Federal Republic of Germany.
He has been a member of the board of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce and the governing board of Davenport University. His extensive record of public service includes holding the presidency of Automation Alley, the chairmanship of the Michigan Manufacturers Association Government Affairs Committee, and the governorship of the Michigan District of Civitan International, a major service organization.
