Formed as ad-hoc to review new UG proposals
Chancellor Little formed this committee in the fall of 2000 to provide an effective channel through which all campus constituencies can have significant and valuable input into the budget process, can receive timely information about the process, and can provide advice, analysis, and assessment throughout the process. The committee includes six faculty members, three staff members and three students, in addition to the provost and the vice chancellor for business affairs, and will meet with the chancellor and other senior officers and deans as appropriate. It is expected that meetings will take place once or twice a month through the academic year.
Five of the faculty members of the University Budget Committee are designated through appointment by the Faculty Senate Council, with two members from the College of Arts, Sciences & Letters and one each from the School of Education, the School of Management and the College of Engineering & Computer Science.
The sixth member is to be elected by the faculty at large. Nominators must be members of the Faculty Congress, and nominees must be Faculty Senate eligible. This means that any member of the governing faculty, or professional librarian or curator shall be eligible for this seat. All Faculty Congress members are eligible to vote. Faculty members holding administrative appointments of more than 50% are ineligible to serve as elected faculty representatives.
